The dance style incorporates a combination of swaying movements, delicate footwork, and subtle expressions, all performed to the accompaniment of classical Carnatic music. Mohiniyattam often narrates stories from Hindu mythology, particularly focusing on the divine and feminine aspects.
The dancer typically adorns a distinctive costume that includes a white sari with golden borders and intricate jewellery, enhancing the visual appeal of the performance. With its roots deeply embedded in the cultural and artistic traditions of Kerala, Mohiniyattam has gained recognition for its elegance and storytelling prowess, captivating audiences both in India and around the world.
